All about Mike Youngsma graphic design and website design services.
Hello. I'm Mike Youngsma, a freelance graphic designer located in sunny Huntington Beach, CA. I strive to find simple solutions for complex problems, and am passionate about creating dynamic brands that people really enjoy. Let's tell your story, build your brand, and grow your business.

I discover my client's needs and follow a structured process that helps them accomplish their goals through design. I believe in bringing my clients into the creative process from start to finish, and prefer to work transparently and collaboratively. That keeps me focused on client objectives, and lets me quickly flex when good ideas arise.
The discovery process starts with an initial meeting that can be in person or over the phone. During this meeting I learn about your company and talk you through my work process. Afterwards, you fill out a brand questionnaire to help me learn more about your company and design needs.
I will learn everything I can about your business. I want to know your positioning, strategies and challenges. I need to know who your competitors are, and what your goals are. Before I begin the creative development it's important for me to immerse myself in your business until I understand the whole picture.
Now that I know your business I can start with the creative development. Based on your goals, branding, and the desired outcome, I will develop a range of design candidates. I will refine these concepts and develop the artwork until it's presentable.
I will present the design pathways. My thinking and objectives behind the designs will be explained in detail. From this presentation, you will choose a design pathway you want to move forward with, and develop.
I will then develop the chosen pathway until it meets all of your needs and expectations. You will be provided with digital presentations of each mechanical of the chosen design for approval.

Based on the chosen design and any modifications, I will refine the final production artwork. After all revisions are made and the project has final approval, the mechanical artwork will be prepped for print, digital, or online publishing.
Whether it's a digital or print design I am ready to deliver the final project. By now all the plans for distributing the product should be in place. All efforts have led to this moment of unveiling. The end result is another happy client.

How much are your graphic design services?
I don’t charge an hourly rate. After we meet to go over your project in detail, I will provide a proposal with a cost for the project. At the beginning of the project, we will meet to talk about your budget and how I can help. Chances are, if you are trying to stick to one number, I can adjust our plan to meet your needs.
How do I get started, and get a project quote?
Simply give me a call, or email to discuss your project in detail. Once I know all the details I will put together a proposal for the cost of the entire design project.
Will you create a free mock-up design?
Will I do a quick mock-up for you, so that you can see what our ideas are before you hire me? No. Unfortunately, I don't do spec work for free. You are welcome to take a look at my portfolio, to make sure my style and capabilities are right for your project.
Who owns the rights to my design files once the project is complete?
You do. Some graphic designers try to hold files hostage in order to keep your business, but with me, once it's paid for in full, you get it all. I will supply you all the native digital files via link for you to download. I don't attempt to retain any rights on the work, although I do like to use what we created in my portfolio. I believe in making every project a portfolio piece.
Can I edit my new website myself?
Yes. I use Webflow to design and develop websites. Webflow has a great content management system (CMS), which will allow you to login to your website on your browser, and make revisions to your site. Clients love this feature of Webflow. See my blog 'Why I use Webflow.'
How long will my project take?
Every job is different and every deadline is different. You should allow sufficient time for the designing, proofing your work, and possibly printing. If your deadline is very tight, I will do my best to complet your work within the time frame. I will advise before I start your project, but I haven't missed a deadline yet.
What happens if I don't like the artwork?
This never happens. But, if this did happen—then it's a communication issue. We sit back down ad discuss the brief again. I know how important it is to get the design right, and will work with you until you're happy with it.
What are your payment terms?
For new clients, I require an initial payment representing fifty-percent of the total fee, before I commence work on your project. The remainder of the balance is payable upon completion of the job. I do offer other payment options for ongoing work. I accept payment in the form of cash, check, credit card, or electronic transfer.
